The moment Grime fans have all been waiting for – Grime’s biggest and most iconic event, Eskimo Dance – is back to where it all started at what was formerly known as Area Watford, now Hydeout Nightclub.
The highly-anticipated rave will take place on Sunday Bank Holiday, 26 August from 10PM-4AM.
The event is set to rewrite history with a mega line up including secret guests who are yet to be announced. The likes of Wiley, D Double E and Pres T will all be doing their thing as well as P Money, Little Dee and many more. DJ’s on the night are Logan Sama, Maximum, Karnage, Slimzee and Dub Plate Mex.
Reminiscing back to when Eskimo Dance first started in 2002 until 2005, it was an unorganised event to say the least, but that was part of the whole atmosphere that everybody loved. It wasn’t about neat and tidy performances but about the MCs’ hunger to get the mic and get the best response from the crowd. The reloads, the gun fingers, and the same signature bars repeated over and over.
Originally formed by the Godfather of Grime, Wiley, the raves were suddenly stopped after one too many bouts of trouble before coming back in 2012. All negatives aside, Eski Dance has had major success with sold out shows across the UK and overseas.
The 16-24-year-olds who were listening to grime when it all started are now in their late 20’s and 30’s. No one really wants to go out to make trouble anymore, its more about having a good time.
Steven Cee known as Cheeky, has since taken over the reigns of the Eski brand and is excited about taking things back to Eski’s birthplace.
He said: “I feel like Eskimo Dance needs a bit of excitement. Going back to the very beginning will bring back that feeling from the MCs being on stage all at once, and that anything can happen!
“It will be good to see everyone on their toes going bar for bar and there will most probably be a few clashes going on.
“The venue is not as big as our usual size so I would advise everyone to get their tickets ASAP.”
